How to Write a Resume Correctly?
A question that worries almost everyone who is looking for a job.
To write a good resume, you will need to focus on the main facts of your professional bio. Therefore, your professional business card should look like this:
- Position
- Contact details
- Work experience
- Education
- Professional skills
- Recommendations
- Additional information
- Specify a position
If you do not know how to write a resume, be sure to include the position for which you are applying. It is also the title of the resume. This is the most important part of your professional business card. The more specific the better.
- Add contact details
Introduce yourself and write your phone number. It is not necessary to indicate the address of residence, as it is unlikely that the employer will write you a letter. But you must write your email address. It also does not hurt to indicate the city of your residence or the city to which you are ready to move (if you are ready). Write here how much you want to earn.
Do I need to insert a photo? In general, this is not necessary, but desirable. Would you like to see a future colleague or subordinate? Your appearance can tell a lot about you. Therefore, do not hesitate, choose a good photo and feel free to use it in your resume.
- Describe your work experience
Describe your work experience in as much detail as possible. It is worth starting from the last place of work and finishing first. If on a professional path you had to work in a completely different specialty for which you are applying, you can skip this information.
It is very important to describe in as much detail as possible what exactly were your responsibilities and what heights you have achieved. It is not necessary to use complex constructions. Describe in your own words what you did, what you did, what you did, and what you did in your previous job. Don’t forget about your achievements!
- Don’t Forget Education
Now education. This will allow you to learn about you as a specialist, to understand what knowledge you may have.
Do not forget about additional courses, training, seminars that you attended in your specialty. Show that you are not standing still and are constantly improving.
- Indicate professional skills
A very important block is professional skills. This paragraph is the answer to the question “how to make your resume even more attractive?” It is from him that the recruiter learns what you can do, in which programs to work, and so on. But just don’t get carried away. If you don’t know what to write, skip it. So that platitudes and repetitions do not appear in it. And do not write off from competitors, write about what you can do!
- Add recommendations
It is possible to add the contact details of those who can recommend you as a specialist – great! The more recommendations the better.
- Fill in additional information
Write a few words about yourself. Leave sociability, responsibility, accuracy, punctuality to competitors. And for your resume, use an original description that really matches your inner world.
When the resume has already been written
Before posting your resume, check it for the following positions:
- whether there are grammatical and lexical errors in it. Have someone read your resume before submitting, or use an online spell checker;
- the entire resume should have one style of narration, the same applies to abbreviations – if you used abbreviations somewhere, then use them throughout the text (although it is better to abandon abbreviations and write the names in full);
- the resume format should be easy to read (large margins, not small print, but not too large print, sufficient line spacing, etc.);
- use good quality white paper for the printed version;
- the resume must fit on one, maximum of two pages;
- If necessary, you should be able to confirm all the information included in the resume.
